Custom Fire & Police Patches
Shoulder patches, tactical patches, name tapes and PVC patches for fire departments, police and sheriff's departments, and EMS agencies. Send us your current patch or a rough sketch and we'll take it from there.
Patch Types
Not sure which one you need? Here's the quick rundown.
Embroidered
The classic shoulder patch. Thread is stitched over a twill base for a bold, raised texture that looks sharp on any uniform.
Best for: shoulder patches, uniform patches, anniversary and event patches
Woven
Thinner thread woven tight for a flat, smooth finish. Holds small lettering and fine detail better than embroidery.
Best for: detailed crests, small text, name tapes
Printed
Your artwork printed in full color. Gradients, photos and busy artwork all come through, with no limit on colors.
Best for: memorial patches, photo artwork, detailed apparatus art
PVC
Soft, flexible rubber with a raised 3D look. Waterproof, fade resistant and nearly indestructible.
Best for: tactical gear, SWAT and special teams, morale patches, keychains
Name Patches
Clean name tapes and name patches that match your uniform colors and your department patch.
Best for: uniforms, turnout gear, tactical vests
Leather
Debossed or engraved leather with a rugged look that wears in nicely.
Best for: hats, jackets, retirement and gift items
Patch Borders
The border keeps the edge from fraying. Which one you get mostly comes down to the shape of your patch.
Merrow BorderHot Cut EdgeMerrow Border
A thick, rounded stitch wrapped tightly around the edge. It is the traditional shoulder patch look and the most durable edge for heavy wear.
Best for: circles, shields, ovals, rectangles and other simple shapes
Hot Cut Edge
The patch is cut along your design with heat, sealing the edge so it won't fray. It follows any outline, no matter how detailed.
Best for: Maltese crosses, badge outlines, apparatus shapes and other custom shapes
Patch Backings
Pick a backing based on where the patch is going and how long it needs to stay there.
Sew On
Stitched onto the garment around the edge. The most secure option and holds up to constant washing.
Hook and Loop
Velcro style backing so patches can be swapped or removed. Ideal for tactical vests, plate carriers, bags and helmets.
Iron On
A heat seal backing that goes on with an iron or heat press. Best on cotton and denim. For uniforms that get washed often, add stitches around the edge.
Plastic Backing
A thin, firm layer that keeps the patch flat and holding its shape. It still needs to be sewn on.
Adhesive
Peel and stick backing for short term use like events, open houses and giveaways. Not made for washing.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much do custom patches cost?
Every order is custom quoted. Price depends on the patch type, size, quantity, border, backing and any upgrades. Send us the details and we'll get back to you with a quote.
Which patch type should I choose?
Embroidered is the classic choice for shoulder patches. Woven is best for fine detail and small text. Printed works for photos and gradients. PVC is the toughest option for tactical and outdoor gear. Not sure? Tell us how the patch will be used and we'll recommend one.
Can you recreate our current department patch?
Yes. Send us a clear photo or your original artwork and we'll recreate it, or update it if your department is due for a refresh.
What is the difference between a merrow border and a hot cut edge?
A merrow border is a thick wrapped stitch for simple shapes like circles and shields. A hot cut edge is heat sealed along your design and works for any custom shape, like a Maltese cross.
Will iron on patches hold up?
Iron on works for a quick fix, but for uniforms that get washed a lot we recommend sew on, or adding a few stitches around an iron on patch.
What is the turnaround?
Patches currently take about 4 weeks, and PVC patches take about 5 weeks. On a deadline? Rush is available, so always let us know your date up front.
